Where are we so far?

Blog as WordCloud 25.09.15

Here’s a Word Cloud of coverage to date. So far, so good to see “theories” so prominent. More to come soon about New Zealand research on children’s working theories.

Very clever way to present info 🙂

I was a little surprised “working” wasn’t just as prominent, I will be interested to see what a different programme perhaps does with the text after a few more posts.

“Magnet” and “magnets” are counted separately in this cloud. I have this problem a lot as well — there’s some software that promises to overcome grammatical variants and tries to extract concepts rather than using the words verbatim but so far I haven’t found it all that successful. I’ve been trying this using Leximancer (I bought a license for the year) and it’s not too bad at extracting quotes into themes, but the concepts that it identifies haven’t made good sense to me for several data sets that I’ve thrown into it. I still have a few months left though, and another data set or two to try. I’d be happy to let you have a go with it if you’re at my end of campus before the license runs out.
